It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Sedgefield Clark at the age of 92 on November 21, 2021. David was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Bonnie Ann Clark, his parents Frank and Elva, and his two bothers Vincent and Charles. He will be sadly missed and by his daughters, Gillian (Jeff), Terry, Sharon (Mark) and grandchildren, Haley (Frank), Drew (Jessica), Hannah (Kyle), Kris (Elyse), Isabel (Matt), his beloved great grand children, Emilia and Addley and his friend Bob DesLauriers and partner, Donna Young. Survived by his sister Carmen (Don) and brother Midge (Eleanor) and many neices and nephews.
David had an illustrious career – as a lecturer at MacDonald College while working on his PH.D. majoring in Microbiology, as a research scientist for 19 years at NRC Ottawa, and as a Director of the Bureau of Microbial Hazards, Health Canada until his retirement in 1984. He was the author of 5 books and many scientific publications, President of the Canadian institute of Food Science and Technology and Secretary-Treasure of the WHO International Commission on a Microbiological Specifications for Food.
He had other exceptional talents too – an avid gardener, golfer, carpenter, obedience dog trainer, all around handy man and a wonderful father and husband.
Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will take place in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Humane Society of Ottawa would be appreciated.
