Obituary
With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of David Norman Barrett on July 22, 2021 with family by his side.
He is survived by sons Curtiss (Lorilee) Barrett, Morden, MB; Cory (Tracey) Barrett, Swan River, MB; Chad (Margaret) Barrett, Wetaskiwin, AB; and step sons Noel (Robyn) Dumontier, Red Lake, ON; Don (Pam) Dumontier, Thunder Bay, ON; step daughters Dee (Allan) Kranz, Prince George, BC; Penny (Gary) Worrall, Winnipeg, MB and sisters Donna and Alice, Moose Jaw, SK.
He had a great love for all his children, including numerous grand children and great-grand children. He had a huge heart and will be forever remembered by family and the friends he made everywhere he went, particularly in his final home of Portage La Prairie. He made many good friends while being involved with the Royal Canadian Legion and the Lions Club. He was fortunate to celebrate his 76th birthday last August and his 40th wedding anniversary in June, 2020 shortly before his beloved wife Judy passed away in August.
We would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre 6th floor for their care and consideration.
It was his wish to have a small, private service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Zoom meeting access for family and close friends who wish to attend remotely.
As a tribute to Dave, donations can be made to McKenzie United Church, 85-11th St, NW, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 2S2, or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #65, 275 Duke Ave, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3A7.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
