In loving memory of Daniel “Dan” Jean Paul Joseph Archambault PhD, 55 years. After a hard and courageous fight with liver disease, he passed away peacefully with his loving wife Wendy and his brother Roger by his side at the Toronto General Hospital on Monday, September 20th, 2021.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his devoted wife and best friend Wendy (nee Hiscock). Over the past 20 years, Dan and Wendy built a beautiful life together and made many happy memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. He will also be sadly missed by his doggies Ruby and Mauri, and will be reunited in heaven with Mandi, and Maxx. Predeceased his parents Denis and Rolande Archambault (nee Lavoie). Son-in-law of Edna Hiscock. Cherished brother of Roger, and brother-in-law of Andrea Hiscock, and Connie Dolomount (Jamie). Adored Uncle Dan of Tara, James, Melanie, Andrew and Matthew, and will be missed by many family, friends and colleagues.
Dan was cherished and loved by many. He was a devoted husband, “Dog Father”, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and colleague. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a big heart, and was always willing to help anyone he could. He enjoyed cooking, hosting, and spent many happy summers at his camp on Lake Nipissing.
Dan was born on July 22nd, 1966 in Sturgeon Falls. He had a wonderful childhood with his brother Roger who he quickly outgrew. With family and friends, Dan was always known as a gentle giant. He was very intelligent, but humble in his academic and professional accomplishments, completing his Doctorate in Plant Physiology from the University of Alberta in 1996. After his PhD, he worked as a Research Scientist at the then Alberta Research Council. He made many valuable contributions to crop research and went on to win a provincial award for his work. In this role, he also mentored and supported many colleagues. He was passionate about his work, as well as collaborating with others to advance knowledge in his field. In 2015, Dan and Wendy relocated to Sudbury from Alberta, and he returned to his Alma Mater, Laurentian University, where he completed his Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees. Dan proudly worked in Research Administration for 16 years at Laurentian, advancing into the role of Director of the Office of Research Services where he proudly managed and facilitated research activities at the University.
When we embarked on the journey for a liver transplant, Dan was full of hope, but also scared. Dan chose life, and remained positive despite the challenges he had to face. He wanted to continue his beautiful life with his family and friends, and the magnitude of this loss will be felt for years to come.
