Obituary
Carl Philip Dale Hokanson
February 11, 1942 – April 14, 2021.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, Afi, Lang Afi, Dale at the age of 79 on April 14, 2021; with his loving wife Phyllis and his family by his side.
Dale was predeceased by his parents Carl and Evelyn; brothers Ken, Roddy and Clifford; sisters Josephine, Alice; and grandson Michael.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; children Sheldon (Kathy), Beverley (Kris), Sandra (Lloyd), Bradley (Gladys), Audrey (Tommy), Janine (Chad), numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren, brothers Charles (Valerie), Lynn (Linda), sisters Lillian, Inez; lifelong friend Eugene Syrotiuk, and his feline friend Sandy.
Dale was born in Howardville on the family farm where he currently resided. He spent his whole life as a hard worker, from the early age of 11. He was especially proud of the work he did for the Federal Government on the Dredge #205. When he retired from Public Works, Dale started commercial fishing and building bush roads for oil exploration in Fort McMurray, AB. He worked all throughout Canada and made many friends along the way. He accomplished many things including owning his own company, Woodglen Construction. He was proud of his hunting awards and being an active member of Whitetail & Walleye for many years. He loved mentoring others, telling stories and sharing his experiences from his working days. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hosting bonfires, helping Phyllis with the garden and harvesting potatoes. He treasured time spent with his family and friends by playing cards, cribbage, watching hockey, telling stories and singing songs. He was his grandchildren’s hero and made the constant effort to be there for every milestone in their lives.
He was a pillar of strength for our family and we will miss him forever.

A huge heartfelt thank you to the Health care workers who helped dad in the last few years and especially the staff at the Stonewall District Health Centre, We truly appreciate you all.
God saw him getting tired,
And a cure was not to be
He wrapped him in his loving arms
And whispered” come with me”
He suffered much in silence
His spirit did not bend
He faced his pain with courage
Until the very end
He tried so hard to stay with us
But his fight was not in vain
God took him to his loving home
And freed him from the pain.
