Dale H Hathaway 19612021

Dale H. Hathaway
1961-2021
Dale Henry Hathaway, of Woodstock NB passed away on April
10th in the comfort of his home. After a challenging battle with
cancer, we celebrate that he is with our heavenly
Father.
Dale was predeceased by his father Lewis; mother Maxine
(Trafton); sister, Shirley Haines, Infant Brother Allan Hathaway;
Father-in-law Gordon Briggs, mother-in-law Mary Briggs (Murray); and
brother-in-law, Charles Briggs.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Marlene (Briggs),
daughter Rebecca (Greg) Keezer of Fredericton, son Ethan (Hannah) of
Williamstown, grandsons Theodore and Felix Keezer,Sister in law Betty,
Brother in Law Stewart, several nephews, aunt and Uncles. Many, many
loved friends.
Dale’s life race began as a little boy born in
Perth Hospital on June 13, 1961. He grew up watching his father,
mother, and sister run their family garage, store and gas bar,
Hathaway’s Service center. He attended school in Bath and
graduated from Carleton North High School 1979, and was seen many
years later sporting his purple jacket at a basketball tournament.
Much of his childhood was spent with anything with a motor. Watching
his father fix and sell cars became his desire as well; Dale would
eventually take over the family business.
Dale started speeding through his younger years chasing
around a girl from Woodstock, Marlene Briggs. The two met during a
Coffee House at the Woodstock Church and Youth Camp at Shiktehawk
Bible Camp. During the high school years they spent time with over a
100 teens each Sunday The Carleton/Victoria Youth Choir. Here is where
they developed lifelong friends. Dale and Marlene also began to spend
much of their time at Shiktehawk Bible Camp. Many years were spent
there as campers, leaders, and volunteers.
After marrying Marlene in June 1983, Dale’s next
section of his race consisted of being a proud dad. Dale was an
involved father, who thoroughly enjoyed snowmobile rallies with
Rebecca, or encouraging Ethan’s own growing enthusiasm for
anything with a motor. One of Dale’s proudest moments was
sitting on the bench of both kids’ basketball teams, and
winning a provincial championship in 2008 for Carleton
North.
Dale’s love for his children extended and expanded
to his grandsons. « Papa » was always willing to read a story
or give a cuddle.
Dale loved racing. He especially liked NASCAR and was known
for watching the races while taping it at the same time. He regularly
participated in the demolition derby in Woodstock, and was a three
time Enduro champion at Speedway 660 in Geary.
Dale loved making people laugh. He had a mischievous sense of
humor and never shied from an opportunity to try and get a chuckle out
of someone. Even in his darkest days, Dale tried to make visitors feel
at peace with a witty comment and a heart laugh.
His joy was contagious, and he easily made the staff of
Connell Chrysler in Woodstock family when he joined their team in Sept
3, 2014. Dale enjoyed his time there and always appreciated the
dynamic environment. His family want to say a special thank you to all
his coworkers at Connell for all their support these last few
months.
Dale entered into the final lap with a difficult cancer
diagnosis. Dale trusted God to be the real driver of his
life’s race, and he continued to keep his focus on Him.
« I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have
kept the faith » 2 Timothy 4:7
We would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to Dr. Bruce
Lockhart, and the New Brunswick Extra Mural program, especially Krista
Pedersen for your excellent care. We cannot thank you both enough for
helping us navigate this difficult journey.
Visitation for Dale will be held at the Jacksonville Baptist
Church on Tuesday, April 13th from 6 to 8 p.m. We would ask the public
to enter the building through the north gymnasium door and exit
through the main doors under the carport. The funeral service will be
held on Wednesday the 14th at 11:00 a.m. from the Jacksonville Baptist
Church with Pastor Todd MacLeod officiating. The interment will follow
in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hartland. If so desired, donations can be
made to Shiktehawk Bible Camp. Arrangements are under the care of the
