Curtis Troy’s Obituary
Curtis Troy Kiyawasew was born September 30, 1967 in Valleyview, Alberta. He was the first-born child and cherished son of Larry Kiyawasew and Linda L’Hirondelle.
Curtis leaves behind his siblings Trudy (Dave), Boyd (Teresa), Lawrence, and Lawrence Tyson. Curtis adored his nephews Ryan, David, Mitchell, Damon, and his nieces Keris and Bailey. Curtis also acknowledges Sandra Lindholm and Colleen Chapchuk as his adopted sisters. Curtis also identified as family with Joe & Doreen Hebert of Little Smoky, Alberta; and Kelly & Violet Wells of Bonnyville, Alberta.
Curtis is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Modeste and Virginia L’Hirondelle, paternal grandparents Bill Rogers, Kathryn Badger, adopted parents Murray and Jean Clark, and brother Matthew Kiyawasew.
Curtis became a father to Kyle in 1988 who resided with his mother.
Curtis subsequently became a father again to Chase in 2003. Curtis and Chase were inseparable from that day forward. They were both well cared for by nannies Curtis and his sister Trudy arranged. Annabelle, then Hilda, took exceptional care of Curtis and Chase.
Curtis had deep passion for the mountains. He loved nature. His farm and home meant everything to him. He had a deep love for hockey and enjoyed golfing and slow pitch tournaments.
Family also meant everything to Curtis. He was instrumental in arranging all our family to be reunited again. We know he is smiling down on us knowing how we have significantly bonded through his death.
Curtis’s world revolved around his son Chase. He was always adamant to be as best father as he could.
Curtis is very sadly missed by all our family and extended family. He was loved by all who knew him, even if it was a glimpse of a meeting, he left a happy impression on all that crossed his path.
Our family would like to express heartfelt acknowledgment to the staff of Valleyview Hospital and Valleyview Emergency services, for all their exceptional efforts in caring for our beloved Curtis. We particularly acknowledge the front-line workers who were often at Curtis’s bedside. Our family requests please that in lieu of flowers or donations, please forward support if you so desire to the Valleyview Hospital Foundation.
Curtis died on May 3, 2021 at his home on the farm.
