Obituary For Curtis Attilio Day
February 9, 1988 – June 23, 2021
With broken hearts, we announce the tragic loss of Curtis Attilio Day at the age of 33.
Curtis grew up in a small town, Kitimat BC and this is the one true place he was able to call home. It was there that his personality started winning the hearts and souls of every person he has ever met. Curtis loved playing hockey, BRAPPIN on those old dirt bikes his father used to build for the boys and fishing. Mr. Attilio was a fisherman. He could sit on the river for days and fish, it was truly a peaceful outlet for him. Before Curtis mastered the trait, he and his brothers would go down to the river during the long summer days on their dirt bikes. He was SO proud to bring home those monster fish. This would drive our father crazy because the fish brought home where the big, old dying ones that washed up on shore. The smell attracted bears to our yard, but the boys’ smiles and laughter were too priceless to stop to it.
Fast forward to his big move to Grand Forks BC in the early 2000’s where he met friends that turned into family. It was here the famous “Curty Day” was created. Curtis had a strong hockey family that went on to winning championships for that small town.
Curtis was known for bringing life to any room that he entered. He filled everyone’s heart with laughter, and he would do anything for his friends and family. He was the first person to help anyone in need and he would give his last penny and the shirt off his back to someone who needed it more. He took care of everyone and put everyone before himself.
Once school was all set and done, Curtis went off the rigs to “make the money!” The rigs…. Now this is where Curtis met a whole new family. Curtis LOVED the rigs and his buddies. The way Curtis talked about his work could inspire anyone to go work out there. He was truly passionate about what he was doing and only ever wanted to learn more, do more and be more. It was here that “The Mullet” was born……… Yes, that greasy, legendary, heavenly mullet, we blame you guys! I, Kaitlin have tried to talk him out of chopping that thing off for years!
Curtis would then move to Grande Prairie, AB in 2017 it is here he would meet his loving wife, Amanda. They moved quickly, because when you know – you know. They got married on July 1, 2019, welcomed their only child Austin Emilio Day on July 16, 2019. Together bought their first home on August 16, 2020. Curtis loved being a dad and husband. He provided an incredible life for his family.
Curtis will be lovingly remembered by his wife Amanda, son Austin, father Steve Day (Susie), mother Paola Day, brother Justin Day (Katie), brother Trever Day, Sister Kaitlin Witkowski (Cody), stepbrother Leo, brother/sister-in-law Jamie and Jennifer Coe; nieces, Brielle, Katalina, Kesler and Kyler; nephews Jack and Lucas. Curtis also leaves behind many cousins and friends.
He was pre-deceased by his grandfather, Attilio Caputo, grandmother, Filomina (Gallo) Caputo, aunt, Maria Louisa (Caputo) Prosdocimo, aunt, Debra Day.
A memorial service will take place on July 2,2021 at 2:00pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie, AB
