ARCARO, Cristina (Vacca) – Cristina’s extended goodbye on earth came to an end when God whispered her name and called her home on Sunday January 10, 2021, into the loving arms of the love of her life, Antonio (1991), her cherished daughter Angie (2009), and son-in-law Tony (2020). A reunion she had been longing for, but never doubted, the will of God. Cristina took with her the eternal love of her daughters Carmelina Passero and Liberina (Betty) Colaneri, and sons-in-law Mike Colaneri and Nick Colaneri. Her heart was always full of love and joy for her grandchildren Tara Colaneri, Michael (Santina) Colaneri, Father Rico Passero, Anthony Passero, Daniel Passero, Nicholas Colaneri, her name sake Christopher Colaneri and great grandchildren Ella and Elisa Colaneri. Left to share fond and loving memories are her sisters Annina (Domenic) Armenti, Dora (Luigi) Giancola, Norma (Carmen) Armenti and sister-in-law Carmela Vacca. She had many nieces and nephews that will treasure her love and beautiful smile she gave them. Cristina is also predeceased by her parents, Carmela and Alessio Vacca; sisters, Maria Vacca, Rita Armenti (Gino), Yolanda Iannone (Sebastiano) and brother Pietro Vacca.
Cristina began her legacy in Castelpetroso, Italy on August 24, 1932. After coming to Canada in 1955 she would call Ignace, Thunder Bay, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, and finally Niagara-on-the-Lake, her home. Upon reflecting on her life, it was family and faith that she cherished most. It brought her unending love and joy that she showed through her incredible smile.
Cristina’s family would like to express their gratitude to her extended family and friends who continue to show her their love and compassion. For the past 50 years, St. Thomas More Parish was her spiritual home where she held a 30-year membership and sisterhood in The Catholic Women’s League of Canada. The final years of Cristina’s journey were spent at Niagara Long Term Care in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the family would like to thank the many personal support workers, nurses and doctors who cared for her during that time. She was especially blessed to have her PSW Tammy who gave her amazing care, laughs and showed her utmost compassion through to her last hour. We cannot thank you enough.
The Arcaro family would love nothing more than to honour the life and share memories of their precious Mamma and Nonna with you, but in accordance with the current situation, a private family visitation and funeral mass will be held. All invited guests are required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Those wishing, may view a livestream of the funeral mass on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv68QPqQPX0&feature=youtu.be Private entombment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. When able to do so, the family will hold a true celebration of her life with everyone, how she wanted. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish, may make a memorial donation to St. Thomas More Church. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.morseandson.com or directly with the family.
Cara Mamma and Nonna, Cuore mio, we take comfort that you are at peace, our sorrow is because we must part,
Your gift of love and faith will live on in all of us, with cherished memories, and your gorgeous smile forever engraved on our hearts.
