Obituary for Correne Byers
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Correne Byers (nee Dowling) on May 16th, 2021 in her 81st year.
Beloved by her late husband Allan Byers, sister Lynne Zimick and predeceased brothers Richard Dowling and Robert Dowling. Dear mother of the late David Byers, Daniel Byers, Susan Ronan, Richard Byers and their partners. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her 9 grandchildren, extended family and lifelong friends.
Correne’s favourite place was Sundridge, Ontario. As a teenager she would visit family during the summers and later met her future husband there. They began as seasonal residents of Sundridge and later transitioned to full-time residents. Correne was involved with the Canadian Red Cross, Anglican Church, Lioness Club, and Meals on Wheels program.
Two of Correne´s favourite activities were painting and drawing. She left behind a wonderful portfolio of pictures featuring scenic locations, places and buildings in and around the Sundridge area. Even after Alzheimer´s waned her artistic ability, she still continued to draw. In fact, she contributed pictures to a recent art show where her talent still shone through.
May she rest in peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to Chester Village Long Term Care Facility, www.chestervillage.ca
