CALDWELL, Corinne Elizabeth.
Corinne Elizabeth Caldwell, age 86, of Waterloo, Ontario, passed away on February 24, 2021, at the Grand River Hospital. Beloved wife of predeceased Charles (Charlie) Caldwell. Loving mother of Mark (Christina), Stephen (Tabitha) and Dwight (Anita). Proud grandmother of Ryan, Ashley, Zachary, Jacob, Julia, Blake, Nicole, Benjamin and Erich. Proud great-grandmother of Caleb. Sister of Jeanne (Glenn) McFarlane, Joyce (Allan) Sinton and Carol (Roger Messier) Vlassoff.
Corinne was born to Archie and Charlotte Knox on October 8, 1934. She grew up in the Alma-Fergus-Elora area and married her Fergus High School sweetheart, Charles Caldwell, in 1956. Corinne obtained her teacher’s training at Stratford Teacher’s College and taught kindergarten for a few years before settling down to raise her 3 sons. She later received her BA from Western University.
Corinne loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. She was a skilled piano player and loved playing for choirs, from Sunday Schools to adult groups, and just for fun. She also loved to sing in choirs, most recently with the Noteworthy Singers in Waterloo.
Friends and family were of utmost importance to Corinne, and she maintained wonderful and lasting friendships with so many people from the places she lived, from St. Catharines, Mississauga and Swift Current, Saskatchewan, to London, Brockville, and Waterloo.
Corinne put her many talents to great use, volunteering for her favorite groups and taking on leadership roles. Most significant was her work with the Brockville Theatre and United Church Women. The UCW held a special place in her heart, combining her love of friendship with her love for her church.
Corinne and Charlie loved to travel, with excursions taking them to such places as Chile, Peru, India, Africa, and China. Family of course was most dear to her heart with the annual family reunion (and her reading of the minutes!) being her most favourite event.
The funeral service will be held on 3:30 pm, March 6, 2021, at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home in Waterloo. Friends and family are encouraged to attend virtually using the live stream provided by the funeral home at www.erbgood.com Attending in person is by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Corinne’s favourite charities: The Food Bank of Waterloo Region and the Salvation Army.
