Obituary
Coral Beth Jewell (Zanotti)
November 28, 1944 – February 26, 2021
Coral Beth Jewell (Zanotti) ended her heroic battle with cancer peacefully on Friday February 26th. Daughter of the late Edward (Bill) Zanotti and Hilda Mae Zanotti (Schultze) from Perth, Australia.
She will be lovingly missed by her partner Jim Chomey, sisters Leita-Mae Petkov (Peter), Joy Watts (Neil), brothers Ashley (Caroline), and Kevin (Eleanor), her nieces and nephews and her many cherished close friends.
After leaving Australia and living in England for a brief time, Coral came to Canada. She retired from the Toronto Board of Education after sharing her musical talents with students at Wilkinson, Earl Grey and Norway Public Schools. Students and community would remember her ukulele clubs, trips to the Boyne River Music School and wonderful school concerts.
Coral built lasting friendships through her many interests. She was a talented seamstress, quilter and fabric artist, writer, a creative cook and an open hearted joyful hostess. She enjoyed taking courses and exploring new ideas. Whether she was walking the Camino, presiding over the Yorkshire Rose Quilting Guild, contributing to her writers’ group, painting someone’s house, or canoeing at Geneva Park, she made meaningful connections. A lover of travel, she visited many places gathering more friends along each journey.
She was always available when anyone needed help. Her most notable charitable interests included Pegasus Community Project for Adults with Special Needs and assisting a Syrian refugee family.
Her body was received by the donor program and will be returned to her beloved Australia. She loved Canada very much and we will always miss our shining Light from the land of OZ. Covid restrictions will delay her celebration of life to a later date.
To support Coral’s ongoing commitment to First Nations, donations in her memory can be made to Indspire.ca.
