It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that we, the family of Clifford Cavanaugh announce his sudden passing on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at home in Sydney Mines.
Born in North Sydney on November 29, 1940, Clifford was the son of the late Everett and Alice (Gallop) Cavanaugh.
Clifford worked at Marine Atlantic for 50 years, and retired at the age of 70. In his younger years, he was a member of the Florence Volunteer Fire Department.
Our Dad was a kind, loving, and a real gentle man.
He will be forever missed by his loving children; Patsy (Jeff) Young, Carole Ann (Chris) Shaw, Alberta, and his son Clifford (Margaret and children).
He was so blessed with the lights of his life, grandchildren Tiffany, Brehanna (Brandon Jessome), Emily, Ryan, Jeremy and Teegan Shaw. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Emma, Briarleigh, Ezra and Ariella, who loved to visit and have sleepovers with Papa.
Also left to mourn are his sisters Millie (Alex) Hillier, and Wanda Hollywood, brother Wayne (Camillus) Cavanaugh, sisters-in-law Tina (Frank) Sacco, and Sarah Musgrave, brothers-in-law Bert, Lloyd (Dolores), and Kenny (Tina) Harris, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Clifford was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Patricia (Harris) Cavanaugh, his son Darryl at 9 months, brother David in infancy, brothers-in-law Vic Hollywood, Charles (Marie) Harris, Russell (Mary) MacDonald, Eric Carey, and Fred Musgrave, sister-in-law Debbie Harris, and nephews Brian Harris and Russell MacDonald Jr.
