Obituary
Blake was a very proud, loving and devoted father to his two beautiful children, Avahleen and Eli. He introduced the love of travel to his children, as he took them everywhere he went following the drum. Blake was a very protective father, making sure he was at Avahleen’s side for every hospital visit. He made sure to pass down the teachings of singing and traditional knowledge to his son, Eli. No matter where he was, Blake always made sure that his children were well taken care of. Blake had a very special relationship with his dad, from a very young age he would go camping up North, this is where Blake was taught how to fish and hunt. On these hunting trips, they would bond and talk about what meant the most to them, which was family and anything that came to mind. He showered his dad with love by ensuring he had everything he needed and frequently visited. Even when they had their fallouts, they would always come back and laugh at each other’s actions, and calling each other ‘Spucks’ or ‘Plows’ referring to their big lips. As he always made sure that his children and father were well taken care of, he went to great lengths to check on his little sisters. He was overprotective and did not hesitate to set them right and sit-down and have the talk. Despite their arguments, he always made sure that his sisters knew he loved them dearly. He always was the first one to make peace with, and amongst his sisters. Family was the most important thing to Blake, through compassion or tough love he was always there. Blake took each and every one of his nieces and nephews as his own. He addressed them as ‘babygirl’ or ‘babyboy’, never calling them by their names. With every celebration of birthdays, Blake would bring his hand drum out and sing. Blake has many numerous close relatives and friends. Everyone who knew him, knew how caring and helpful he was. No matter the time, place or the situation was, he never hesitated to come to the rescue. The saying he lived by was: “Give with one hand, and receive with the other.”
Blake is now reunited with his mother and grand mother.
