Christie-Ann Bernard, age 54 years passed away on Monday July 19, 2021. A native of Gull Bay First Nation. Born on May 18, 1967 in Armstrong, Ontario, to parents Irene Bernard and Gary Bourassa. She found joy in music, dancing, art, regalia making, beadwork, singing, passion for teaching and sharing her culture and traditions, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking and canoeing. She loved dancing at powwows, playing softball and volleyball. Her flare for life captivated many students, friends and communities across Turtle Island. Her bright smile that light up the hearts of many will be greatly missed. Christie will be lovingly remembered by Her partner Derek Morris and step dad, Ralph Jarvinen. Greatly missed by her children Tamara Bernard (Derek Hrynzcak), Alora Desrosiers and Darien Desrosiers. Her sister, Brenda Belmore (Jordan Hatton), brothers Henry Belmore (Eunice Souribio), Kevin Belmore and Bradley Belmore. She will be missed by her grandchildren Taliah Tucker, Trey Dampier and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Irene Bernard and Gary Bourassa, her brother Craig Bernard, her sister Janette Bernard, and grandparents Jane and Sam Bernard. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 4, 2021 with Rev. Suzanne Quirion officiating.
