Obituary of Christa Riddell
It is with sorrow, but with an appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Christa (Osterberger) Riddell, beloved wife of the late Andrew Stewart Riddell, announce her peaceful passing which occurred on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Loch Lomond Village (Cedar House), a place she considered home.
Christa was born on June 12, 1932 in Petau, Yugoslavia. She was proud to become a Canadian citizen, while always holding her heritage close to her heart. Christa will be fondly remembered for many wonderful things, but her elegance stood out to many. She enjoyed her time spent working in retail and made many wonderful friendships during her time in management at Talbots, a women’s clothing store in Ottawa. Christa will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Christa will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her son, Eric Riddell; daughter-in-law, Kim; special nephew, Georg; niece, Beatrice; as well as her precious granddogs. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Stanzi and brothers, Fritz and Franzel. Christa was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Christa’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of Cedar House, with a special thank you to caregivers, Eleanor and Maddy. The exceptional and loving care along with the friendship that was always provided to her and her family will never be forgotten.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424).
For those who wish, remembrances made to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
