A few words about our Dad.
After our Mother passed, we made a promise to spend more time with Dad. We had a standing date every Friday night. We would bring whatever Dad wanted for supper, watch whatever cheesy horror movie he wanted and played Yahtzee for money. He won most of the time, but we suspect some fudging of the numbers. Of course, we could never prove it.
Dad gave us three of the best gifts that have served us well throughout the years. Our love of music, our love of animals (We must have had at least three Smokey the cats), and our sense of humor.
We can’t remember a time that there wasn’t music in our home. We loved waking up on a Saturday morning to the sound of Dad playing the guitar. He loved all the old country favorites.
Dad loved to tell jokes. If it hadn’t been for his budding career at the sugar shack, he could have given Rodney Dangerfield a run for his money.
There were rough times, but there were also a lot of good times. So many good memories. The pool in the backyard, the ice skating rink in the driveway, the 8 foot tall snowmen, the toboggan hill around the back, our bus at Pine Cone, summers in Middleton, late nights singing around the bonfire, Grand Prix Wrestling at the Lord Beaverbrook, opening and closing the Ex (even if we had to hop the fence to get in), the exercise barn (who’s got the time?), the Marina, Dick Stacy’s, game nights and so many more.
We’ve enjoyed getting to know our dad better over the last four years. People say you can’t change, but we’ve seen otherwise.
Thanks for the memories Dad.
Love your girls ❤ ️
