Catherine “Kay” Morrissey

North River, NL.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Catherine “Kay” Morrissey announce her passing surrounded by her three daughters on November 14th, 2021, at the Labrador Health Center at the age of 84 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughters: Madonna, Linda (Joe) and Kelly (Shawn); grandchildren: Scott Morrissey and Nicholas Clarke; sister: Florence Hurley; sisters-in-law Patricia Hall and Miep Hall; and a large circle of foster siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Catherine was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Morrissey; parents Florence and James Hall; special son-in-law, Bryce Goudie; sister Lorraine Laracy; brothers: Walter Hall, Calvin Hall, and Gerald Hall; and brothers-in-law: Steven Hurley and Jack Laracy; and Peggy Mercer.
Mom was born and raised in Hall’s Town/North River, Newfoundland and later moved to Happy Valley-Goose Bay which she came to call home. She was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 51 and the Ladies’ Auxiliary. She will always be remembered for her hilarious sense of humour, quick wit, and her compassion for others.
Our heartfelt thanks to the nurses and all the staff at Labrador Grenfell Health whose care and kindness towards mom means more to us than can ever be expressed in words. We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Sean Dillon and Dr. Ben Walmsley.
