We lost a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother when Pearl passed away at the U of A Hospital at the age of 94. Our thanks go to the staff at station 5-G-2 for the compassionate care they gave Pearl in her final days.
Pearl was born on November 27. 1926 in the Shandro District of Northern Alberta. She was the second daughter of William and Lena Russ. Following her graduation from Bellis High School, she attended and graduated from Alberta College in Edmonton in the administration field. She worked for the Provincial Government for several years. She met Ernest Carter in June of 1952. They were married August 1, 1953 and started a family. Later, she worked as a secretary at the Holyrood Nursing Home until they transferred to Toronto in 1979. They retired in 1984 and returned to Edmonton.
Pearl is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ernest, her sons Douglas (Yvonne Smyth) in Calgary, Robert (Jaye) in Edmonton, grandchildren Tarra (Chad) Brownlee and Bryan (Joy) Carter of Edmonton and Derek Carter of Crane Lake. Also, there are great grandsons Ryker Brownlee and Lincoln Carter of Edmonton. Pearl was pre-deceased by her sister Olga (Nickon) Shandro of Vegreville and daughter-in-law Toni (Douglas) of Calgary.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service has been held.
