C. Arlene’s Obituary
Chesnutt, C. Arlene – 97, West Pugwash, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in West Pugwash she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie (Buchanan) Burnside. Arlene had taught school in various parts of Nova Scotia for over 20 years, retiring in 1977. She was a charter and life member of the West Pugwash Women’s Institute having joined in 1941. She was a member of the Silver Spray Rebekah Lodge since 1944 and received the Degree of Chivalry in 1999. She was a member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church and had served as the church organist for many years. Arlene also spent a lot of her time volunteering in the community. Surviving are her children, Kenneth Chesnutt, West Pugwash; Linda Chesnutt (George Schudlo), Rocky Lane, Alberta; grandchildren, Jordan Schudlo; Jane Chesnutt (Johnathan Shelton) and his son, Kayson Shelton. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, George Chesnutt and sister, Mary Priscilla Burnside. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021, with a Rebekah Lodge Service at 7:15, both at Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash, from where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21. Pastor Jackie Ross officiating. Burial in the Pugwash River Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Pugwash River Cemetery or any charity. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of the Cumberland Regional Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
