Bruce was a loving husband and will be greatly missed by his wife Elizabeth (Betty). Bruce and Betty shared many great travel adventures over their 58 years of marriage. As a couple, they competed in Canadian rally races for many years and held numerous awards for their races won, and for their driving and navigating skills. With their son Dave, they loved to tour Ontario and across Canada in their family camper. Bruce and Betty also toured many summers across the United Stated with the Kiwanis Kavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps as support staff and made many friendships and memories with the corps members and staff. Bruce and Betty were inseparable and had a very special loving marriage.
Bruce was a highly skilled body shop mechanic and respected owner of Schmidt Auto Body in Tavistock, Ontario for 49 years. As a hobby, Bruce and Dave enjoyed restoring and modifying cars. Together they spent many hours in the shop with the radio on, welding, sanding, and painting. Dave will always cherish the time spent working on special projects in the shop with his Dad.
Bruce was a family man and enjoyed all family gatherings with his close and extended families. He had a special bond with his daughter-in-law Joanna and together they shared a love for sudoku and pistachios. Of recent years, his face would light up with a cheerful smile and bright blue eyes at the sight of his dear grandchildren Gracie and Sophia. He loved being a grandfather and will be greatly missed by the girls.
A special brother-in-law to Audrey (Audie), who deeply cared and loved him as her own brother. Bruce and Audie shared a special relationship, and Audie holds many great memories of Bruce close to her heart.
Bruce will be remembered as a loving family man, hard-working, and kind-hearted soul that lived a long and happy life.
