Memorial Donation
Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Bridget King left this world today to meet her Heavenly Father n her own terms and with no fuss. She was a woman who wore many hats during her 93 years, the proudest being a Mother and Grandmother.
She worked hard from a very young age growing up in Colliers helping with family chores. When she left home, she moved to St. John’s and worked many places over the years. One of these places was the Sanitarium where she met her future husband Stan.
After marrying in September 1951 they welcomed into their family 1 girl and 3 boys.
Bride continued to work all throughout her life while raising her family. She taught them all what life was about; love of family, sacrifices, rewards, care of animals (especially cats) and hard work.
When the kids were little she had them with the planting of crops for the winter and the boys were sent fishing with their father. She loved to pick blueberries and every year it was an annual family outing to buy supplies for the coming school year. As a reward for their hard work picking berries on the way home the kids were treated to a plate of fries and a small coke at the Cozy Corner in Manuals.
Bride has moved to her heavenly home and is reunited with her husband Stanley, her parents James and Mary Sceviour , in-laws William and Flora King, brother Jim,step-brother Tom,son-in-law Tom Spracklin, infant grandson Gerald , step-granddaughter Sherry Howlett and other members of the Sceviour and King families.
Leaving to mourn their loss but also celebrating Bride’s life are her daughter Shirley Spracklin with whom she resided with for the past 13 years. Sons: Bax (Joan), Jim (Evelyn) and Rick (Dawn). She is also loved and cherished by 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Sisters; Nell Bartlett and Anna Coombs, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A special thank you has to be extended to Deloris Mugford (Bride »s home care worker) Charlotte Bidgood (her nurse) Emma Fry and Paula Cullen for their love and care they have given over the months and years of Bride »s life.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions funeral is by invitation only. If you wish to attend please call Evelyn at 687-7177.
Resting at Broughton’s Funeral Home, Brigus with visitation on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 12 P.M.- 9 P.M.
Funeral to take place from St. Patrick »s Church, Brigus on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Topsail Road.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St. Patrick:s Church, Brigus or the SPCA.
