Obituary of BRADLEY ROY BATTRUM
Bradley Roy Battrum
Passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 24th at Riverview Health Center, at the age of 57 years.
Bradley was predeceased by his grandparents Roy & Verna Battrum, William & Ethel Swanston. His uncles; Donald Swanston, Bobby Swanston, Vernon Swanston, Merle Battrum and Terry Battrum. And by his aunts; Dorothy Champange and Sharon Flecckenstein.
Bradley is lovingly remembered by his wife Kemika, children Brock and Sephera and his parents Edward (Ted) and Marion Battrum.
Bradley also leaves behind his only brother Brent (Jo-Ann) and his niece Jordan and nephew Nikolas along with much extended family.
Bradley was born in Oyen AB, and then spent his formative years in Rosetown, SK before embarking on his initial career as a machinist in Neilburg, SK and the oil industry for a few years. Realizing he wanted more, Brad moved to Winnipeg MB and began his education to become a Mechanical Engineering Technologist. With this education Brad began a life long (30) year career in Aviation and more importantly his love and passion for the Pratt and Whitney PT-6 turbine engine. There was a brief break from aviation for a couple of years where his need to travel and explore the world led Brad to tackle the challenge of working for Moabi Oil in Libya. After satisfying his need to trave albeit not permanently, Brad returned to Winnipeg and the aviation industry.
Brad’s two children Brock (21) and Sephera (12) were born in Winnipeg where they continue to live.
Once again Brad’s need to explore and travel the world took him this time to Bangkok Thailand where he met the love of his life Kemika Thongditiratana. Brad and Kemika were married in 2013 and continued to make Winnipeg their home. In 2018 Brad felt the need to start his own consulting business in aviation and began a consulting career with Alpine Aviation out of Provo Utah. Brad loved his new consulting position with Alpine Aviation but more importantly he loved the personal friendships and relationships he developed with his “Alpine Family”. Brad was finally content with both his personal and professional life. This however was short lived and he was diagnosed with cancer in the spring of 2020. Brad took on this new cancer challenge and received chemotherapy treatments while determined to continuing working until it became too difficult. Brad’s family as well as his “Alpine Family” rallied behind him in support and encouragement until his passing.
Bradley’s family would like to thank the Riverview Palliative care unit for their exceptional care and compassion as well as his Alpine Aviation family who never stopped supporting and encouraging him through his toughest battle, cancer.
A family funeral will be held on December 3rd, 2021. A celebration of life will be held in June of 2022 at “the lake” with all of Brad’s family and extended family gathering in celebration of the ever humorous “Big Bad Brad”
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Brad.
