We regret to announce the sudden passing of Albert Darrell Bourgeois on Monday, February 15, 2021 at home.
Born on November 19, 1948 in Sydney, Albert was the son of the late Edgar and Mary (Andrews) Bourgeois.
Albert served briefly in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a weather observer. During that time, he also began his lifelong love of music. Albert worked as an industrial electrician at Sydney Steel. He was actively involved in the local entertainment industry and performed with many local bands. He had a beautiful voice and loved sharing his talent with anyone who wanted to listen. Albert never lost his passion for music.
Albert is survived by his children, Christopher, Sydney, Margaret Ann, Australia and Darrell, Ontario; grandchildren, Ceilidh, Reagan and Will, Australia and Camila, Ontario; siblings, Paul, Howie Centre, Theresa, Halifax, Frank and Blaise, Sydney; loving aunt, Mary Andrews; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Albert was predeceased by his brother, Charles.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Albert Bourgeois will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.) Whitney Pier on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. with the memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks at a later date.
Donations in memory of Albert may be made to Mental Health Services at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
