Bluma Nemirov
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Bluma Nemirov on December 1, 2021. Loving daughter of the late Shai and Pearl Golden. Devoted sister of the late Al Goldin. Beloved wife of the late Zeev Nemirov. Cherished mother of Stephen & Naomi Nemirov and Rose Ellen &Ted Stricker. Deeply loved Bubbie of Perry & Nadia, Avryl & Pete, Joel, Sarina & Ben, Jacob, Meron & Adele, and Benjamin. Proud great-grandmother of Tomer and Meira. Aunt and great aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, and a cousin and friend to many.
In 1970 Bluma and Zeev moved the family from her native Montreal to Toronto to start anew. She was a bookkeeper for most of her professional life in various industries. She was a life-long member of Hadassah Wizo and an active participant in synagogue life. She volunteered in several capacities. She grew up wanting to be either a nurse or a teacher but could not afford to go to school for training in either. However, she took on both roles in her personal life many times.
She was known for her cooking and baking and continued to « raise the bar » even in her later years. She enjoyed sewing, reading, knitting but most of all being surrounded by family and friends. She was fluent in Yiddish which was her first language. Despite many challenges, including overcoming polio, she would always maintain, « this too, shall pass ». Most of all, she had a positive attitude, which was contagious. No matter the distance, Bluma always kept family close to her heart. She wrote letters to overseas relatives and never failed to call or send a kind letter or telegram on special occasions. In time, she also had Stephen and Rose follow the same practices.
She knew what she wanted and did her best to achieve her goals. She was everyone’s confidante and could always keep a secret. She was a mensch, a selfless person, a matriarch, a role model and an inspiration to all who knew her and loved her. She kept tradition and family together with her Golden heart. She will be dearly missed.
