Obituary of Betty Dunfield
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the sudden passing of Elizabeth Ann Dunfield, 73, of Waterford, NB and wife of Kenneth Dunfield at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday May 2nd, 2021. Born in Amherst, NS on January 17, 1948, she was a daughter of the late John Francis (Fran) & Lillian Mae (Vincent) McKinnon.
Betty is survived and sadly missed by her husband, Ken Dunfield; daughter, Tammie (Robert) McPhee of Waterford; son-in-law John deGooyer of Apohaqui; grandchildren: Breagha McPhee (Matthew Steeves), Brooke McPhee, Gabrielle deGooyer and Jonathan deGooyer; brother, Vincent (Diane) McKinnon; sisters: Frances (Ed) Trenholm, Susan (Rod) Turner, Karla (Greg) Huston; Uncle Al (Norma) McKinnon; Aunt, Marion McKinnon; in addition, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews as well as many loving friends. Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her daughter Rachelle deGooyer.
If Betty was not sunning herself in the colourful beach chairs in Pugwash, she would be spending time with and contacting her 4 grandchildren, with whom she loved with all of her being. Betty was always so proud of her two daughters and the lives and families they built for themselves. Betty was always uplifting the spirits of everyone around her. She enjoyed gathering with her family and friends, from playing cards at the camp to taking drives in the woods. « Gran » was always interested in what everyone in her life was up to, making phone calls, sending texts to her siblings spread out across the country and making sure that everyone was okay. Whenever anyone talked to Gran you knew she truly cared about what you had to say and always listened intently. Her favorite expression was to always be humble and kind to one another. Betty loved to travel and relax on a white sandy beach with clear blue waters, she was thankful for all the times she got to travel « down south » with friends, family, and her grandchildren.
Ken and Betty shared a love that was the envy of the whole family, they always had a project on the go together and a story to go along with it. They enjoyed watching the morning news together, observing the cardinals and whatever wildlife wandered into their driveway outside their living room window, and of course all the time that they spent in Pugwash. Gran has influenced so many lives and we will always remember her little tidbits of information, from telling us what national day it was to making sure we had cream on our hands and feet. Gran was truly a bright light in this world and will be missed by so many. It is not without sadness that we share these fond memories but know that Gran will live on in all of our hearts and lives forever.
