Obituary of Betty Lou Gonschior
GONSCHIOR, Betty Lou – It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Lou Gonschior (Nee Powers) at home, lovingly surrounded by her immediate family, on Sunday April 18, 2021 in her 80th year. Betty Lou will be lovingly remembered by her dear husband of 58 years, Klaus, her children Cindy (Scott) and Jim (Vera) and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Paul (Nancy), her niece Melanie and her nephew Jon Paul as well as her sisters-in-law Inge and Ursula and many nieces and nephews. Betty Lou was predeceased by her mother and father Edith and Tom Powers, her brother Roger (Boy), her grandmother Mildred Peterson (Nan), her mother-in-law and father-in-law Martha and Max Gonschior, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Betty Lou served in the Air Force where she met her husband Klaus and they were married May 4, 1963. After her time in the Air Force she worked as a Nurse’s Aid at Tabor Manor for 27 years. During these years she also enjoyed and worked on the family apple farm. She picked, polished and sold the apples at many farmers markets throughout Niagara. When she retired in 1997 she and Klaus moved to Thomasburg, Ontario where they lived for many years, fostering numerous children and was awarded foster parent of the year. Betty Lou spent most of her selfless life dedicated to caring for her family and loved ones. The Gonschior family wish to express sincere thanks and gratitude to all of those who cared for Betty Lou over the past several months. Special thank you to the palliative care team of Dr. Scher, Nurse Tracey and many others for their compassion, kindness and professional care. Words cannot express how grateful we are for such a dedicated team. At her request cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer`s Society would be appreciated by the family.
