Bernice Orphy Silde (nee Sandness)
December 2, 1930 ~ September 7, 2021
Bernice Silde went home to be with the Lord on September 7, 2021 in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 90 years. She is cherished by her family, including eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, for her love of God, love for her family, her work ethic, humility and kindness.
Bernice was born December 2, 1930 in Prince Albert, SK. She attended Roosevelt School, north of Weldon, SK from grade 1 to grade 10. She finished grade 11 and 12 in Weldon, SK.
Bernice received her Standard “A” teaching certificate from the Department of Education in 1966. She then obtained her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1980. Before retiring in 1990, Bernice taught for 31.5 years in the Kinistino School Division.
Bernice volunteered at Princess Margaret School from 1999 to 2012. She was in charge of Pastoral Care at Good Shepherd Villa from 2004 to 2012. She also led various bible studies over the years. She resided in many places throughout her time including Weldon, St. Louis, Birch Hills, and Prince Albert SK.
On August 26, 1950, Bernice married the love of her life, Conrad David Silde, in Prince Albert, SK and together they raised three children. She served an integral role as business manager of “Silde’s Auction Service” in Birch Hills, SK, supporting her husband in all aspects of his career as an auctioneer.
Bernice will be lovingly remembered by her children Maureen (Gordon) Frey and their family, Rachel Frey, Robert Frey, Kevin (Lisa) Frey and their children Elyse and Jacob; Corinne (Gerry) Ginter and their family, David (Kayla) Ginter and their children Cassia and Danielle, and Dale Ginter; Trudy (Brent) Kristiansen and their family, Thea (Clayton) Herzog and their children Naomi, Brynn, Axel, and Blaire, Genna Kristiansen, Kaila (Dustin) Goddard.
Bernice is predeceased by her husband, Conrad Silde in 1999; brother Gilford Sandness; sister Evelyn Birkland; mother Thea Andrea Sandness (nee Fossen); father Ole Miller Severt Sandness; mother-in-law Dora Silde; father-in-law Martin Silde; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 1351 28 Street East, Prince Albert or a donation to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at First Baptist Church, 1351 28 Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Jim Galbraith officiating; lunch to immediately follow.
