Bernadette Heney (nee Archer) passed away July 16, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Born in Nakina to parents Edward and Estelle on October 30,1939, mom grew up and lived in Thunder Bay. She was a quiet person of deep faith who lived for her family. Over the years mom enjoyed her time sewing, quilting, and scrapbooking with the “Scrapping Grannies” – her sister and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her children Kathy Ongaro (Rick), Larry (Sherri, Zackary, Dylyn), Mike and Pat (Toni), grandchildren Kimberley (Jesse), Amy & Matthew Ongaro, Adyn, Nolyn, Aislynn, and Carter, sisters Margaret (Wray) Miller, Audrey McKinnon, brothers Frank (Vi), Martin (Darlene), and sister-in-law Claire and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Larry, brother Joseph and brother-in-law James McKinnon, and her parents. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the many health care professionals who helped keep mom comfortable at home these last few months. Funeral service will be held Wednesday July 21 at 10:00 am at St Dominic’s Church, interment to follow. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to The Northern Cancer Fund or the Canadian Lung Association.
