Obituary
With heavy hearts and gratitude for a full, happy, well-lived life, the family of Beatrice Marina (Trecartin) Crawshaw (13 March 1935) announce her passing on December 8, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Beatrice was born and educated in Saint John, New Brunswick. She was employed with the Government of Canada in Saint John until 1956; when she married J. Robert (Bob) Crawshaw they took up residence in Nova Scotia.
Beatrice was a stay-at-home mother for 12 years, then returned to the work force, employed in various departments for the Government of Canada. After her retirement in 1995, Bea and Bob relocated to Saint John, New Brunswick. Bea and Bob enjoyed travelling across Canada, USA, Bermuda and the British Isles. They enjoyed trailering at various campgrounds, meeting people, shouting “BINGO”, playing cards, knitting, Swedish embroidery and reading.
Beatrice was predeceased by her husband and best friend of 60 years, J. Robert Crawshaw; son Jeffrey; parents: Grace and Edward Trecartin; sisters: Florence Bulmer, Marion Cheeseman, Thelma Edwards and Ruth Horton.
Bea is survived by her sons: Robert (Gloria) of Nelson, BC, and Andrew (Wendy Zinck) of Bridgewater, NS; step-grandson Scott (Gail) Rothermel of Nelson, BC; grandchildren: Darrell (Jennine) Crawshaw of Mahone Bay, NS, Kyle (Teresa) Crawshaw of Dartmouth, NS, and John Jimmy (Rose McCoy) of Victoria, BC; great-grandchildren: Quinn, Patrick, William, and Owen; step-great-grandchildren: Tebo and Lebo Lekhanya, and Harmony, Elijah, and Roman McCoy; brothers: Tom Trecartin, Paul (Ann Walker) Trecartin and Nelson (Christine) Trecartin; sisters: Grace Thibodeau, Phyllis Henry, Mary E. Trecartin, Lois (Ralph) Robertson, Nancy (Brooks Bennett) Muller, Dianne (Clary) Fleming, and Esther Irvine-Wilkes; several nieces and nephews, as well as many loyal friends.
Beatrice’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank the doctors and staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care, compassion, professionalism, and dedication; a special thank-you to her sister Dianne and brother-in-law Clary Fleming and family for their love and support.
Bea’s wish is that she has touched many lives and was able to bring “happiness to all” that she has had the privilege to meet. Bea’s final wish was that there be “No Tears”, but reminiscence of positive memories and happy occasions.
Beatrice’s and Robert’s interment (together again) at the Middle La Have Cemetery in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia will be held with only her immediate family in attendance. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
