Passed away at Spencer House in Orillia on December 4, 2021 in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her husband Simon in 2017. Beloved mother of Kelvin (predeceased 1997) and Joanne VanderPlaat, Helen and Simon VanTol, Elsa and Michel Moreau, Kathleen and Kirill Richine. Caring Grandma/Oma to (Becky), Meaghan (Isaiah), Stefan (Shaylene), Jordan (Kyla), Tayah (Clay), Joshua, Mike (Tammy), Marc (Hillary), Jon (Dana), Jessica (Jamie), Elyse (Jesse), Emmanuelle (Jeremy), Eva (Lukas), Eliane (Anthony), Emilia, Ivan, Anton, and Olivia. Proud great-grandma to Daniel, Jeremy and Alee; Sophie and Liam; Ryker and Levi; Sam, Mia and Eli; Olive, Felicity, Éloïse and Elliot; Lillian, Brooklyn and Preston; Lucy and James; Madeline and Claire. Dear sister to Heather and Jane in Canada, and Hennie in the Netherlands. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews both in Canada and in the Netherlands. Mom was all about connecting. She loved deep discussions, long walks and good books. Her faith in God was a constant in her life, and remained strong even when dementia took away her ability to converse, or walk, or read. Special thanks to the amazing staff at Spencer House for their exceptional care and compassion. Your kindness will not be forgotten. If desired, donations in Mom’s name may be made to Spencer House Residents’ Council in Orillia and would be greatly appreciated by the family. The Funeral Service will take place at Providence Christian Reformed Church, 4845 King Street, Beamsville, on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Grimsby Mountain Cemetery.
