MacIntosh, Barbara Jean
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean MacIntosh, retired teacher, beloved wife of the late Pember MacIntosh and mother of Leslie MacIntosh and Laurie Swami. She passed away December 23, 2021 at the age of 83 after a tenacious fight against Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She is survived by five granddaughters, Tara Swami, Alyson MacIntosh-LaRocque, Hayley MacIntosh-LaRocque, Maya Swami and Anthea MacIntosh-LaRocque. She will be missed by her family, including her son in law Dev Swami, Sally Jenner, Alton Shaver; and, her many friends.
Barbara loved gardening, music and travel. Barbara dedicated her time in retirement to her grandchildren and many volunteer activities, including, Maplelawn Garden, Chamberfest, Centrepointe Theatre, Meals on Wheels and the National Gallery. She was an active member of the Choristers until her illness prevented her continued participation. Thank you to the staff at Amica for their care and support.
Funeral service will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Rd, on December 31 at 2 pm followed by a reception.
