COLEMAN, Barbara (Barb) – It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Elizabeth Coleman announce her passing on January 1, 2021 at the age of 85, of natural causes.
Barbara was born in Montreal on May 11, 1935. She was predeceased by her ex-husband, John Travers Coleman, who passed away in 2014. Her intellect, strength, and character profoundly shaped the lives of her children. She is loved and remembered by her four children: Lisa (Joe), Leslie (Tony), Adam (Chrissie), and Jeff (Susan); her ten grandchildren: Stephania, Alicia (Ryan), Orianna (Danny), Laszlo (Ashley), Alexandra (Brandon), Amanda, Lloyd (Shannon), Marissa (Kyle), Jasmine, and Jade; her six great-grandchildren: Marcus, Sophie, Roanan, Frankie, Quinn, and Shepherd; as well as her brother Don (Fran), and their family, her late sister, Heather (Dave), and her family, her sister-in-law, Nikki, and her family, and her brother-in-law, Chuck, and his family.
She was a voracious reader and devoted her career to the love of reading and the service of people who were shut-in through her work as a Library Assistant at the Toronto Public Library’s Travelling Branch. Turner Classic Movies was her getaway (anything with Robert Mitchum), tennis was her weakness, and yoga her solace.
We thank the care teams at: Hawthorne Woods Care Community, Brampton Civic Hospital, and Bethell Hospice.
Visitation will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel and Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Webcast at www.dodsandmcnair.com/.
An Interment Service and Celebration of Life will be postponed because of COVID-19 until later in 2021/22. Donations to the Bethell Hospice Foundation are requested. Face coverings must be worn during all events.
Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
