Barbara Catherine Maki
The family of Barbara Catherine Maki announces her passing on Sunday August 1st, 2021 at the Timmins and District Hospital Hospice at the tender age of 48. Barbara leaves to mourn her daughter Kayla (Tyler) with a grand-baby due in January 2022. She leaves behind her “favourite” Mom and Dad Joan and Ron; her older brother Doug (Sheila); her “favourite” brother David; her “favourite” sisters-in-law Chantal as well as Anne, whom she considered her sister growing up; her stepbrothers Moe (Tina) and Dan (Shannon); her “favourite” aunt Lil and uncle Bob; her nieces and nephews Emilie and Devon, as well as Dylan and Karlie. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Barbara’s life was difficult and complicated after being diagnosed with mental health. She had a very hard time adjusting to a very challenging disease.
Barbara was soft in nature, loved to laugh, and enjoyed music and dancing. She also loved animals, cats being her favourite.
On behalf of Barbara, the family would like to give a big thank you to Dr. Lax and his secretaries Janice and Louise; Dr. Ravendran for her kindness for well over 20 years – your patience was noticed and appreciated; the Act Team, Colette and Cassie; the social workers Donna and Theresa; the doctors who took care of her for 5 weeks at the hospital, Dr. Wilson, Dr. Paul Armstrong, Dr. Paquette, Dr. Cote (extra thank you for listening) and Dr. Nick Kenya-Forstner for his compassion and understanding. You will never be forgotten. Thank you also to all the nurses on 2A and 2B, as well as a special thank you to Vera and Dakota, her “favourite” nurse in hospice – you are family. Kindness breeds kindness.
A private family graveside service will be held on Friday August 6, 2021, at Timmins Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with LESSARD-STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME. Remembrance donations made to Timmins and District Hospital Foundation, Timmins and District Hospital-Hospice and the Canadian Mental Health Association would be greatly appreciated
