Obituary
The family of Barbara Lois Craig of Lacombe, Alberta, beloved wife of the late James Craig, is saddened to announce her passing at Chinook Regional Hospital on June 6, 2021 at the age of 85.
Barb is survived by her son Ken (Sandy), daughter Sheree (Rick), and son Steve (Diane), 7 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Barb was predeceased by her parents Henry and Irinda Howe, sisters Loreen and Doreen, and son Brian.
Barb and Jim spent their early married life going town to town, building Alberta’s roads before settling in Calgary in 1965. After raising her children and working 10 years at the Foothills Hospital, Barb and Jim retired to the family farm near Alix and enjoyed a decade raising pets and pretending to be farmers. From there, Barb moved back to Lacombe where she met many great friends and enjoyed condo life.
Barb loved to travel with Jim and found beauty and embraced culture wherever she landed. One of Barb’s most memorable trips came when she was in her 70’s and recently widowed. Since Nunavut was the only territory or province she hadn’t visited, she hopped a cargo plane to Iqaluit to meet the people of the north.
A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Therese Villa for their care of Barb. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Therese Villa for recreational services to improve the lives of residents.
