Obituary
With heavy hearts, the family of Barbara Thorne announces her passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 30, 2021, after a brief illness. Born in Saint John on September 10, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Borlen) Donovan, and the loving wife of Eugene Thorne for over 63 years.
She was the best mother in the world, if you asked her children. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and always made sure their bellies were full. Along with her husband Eugene, she is survived by her son Eugene (Barb), daughter Mary (Bruce), 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her daughter Shelley LeBlanc (the late Skip), brothers Harold and John Donovan, sister Margaret Rose Robichaud, and an infant sister, Mary Donovan.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). A memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 3rd at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Due to COVID-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings, all those 12 and older attending the memorial service will be required to wear masks and show proof of vaccination along with a piece of government issued ID.
