It is opening week of the Deer Hunt, a week that August looked forward to every year, he was the mighty hunter, the knowledge keeper of the land and he would want every hunter who comes to see him off dressed in their hunting gear/hunter orange so please if you are a hunter come dressed as if you’re heading to your happy hunting grounds, “Auggie” would love this!
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the August Commanda Legacy Fund.
The August Commanda Legacy Fund is our way of making sure he will always live on and that his love of the land, hunting, trapping, and fishing will be shared for generations to come. This fund will offer the “August Commanda Legacy Award” by way of bursary to a Pikwakanagan student between the ages of 12-21 years who exemplies a natural interest in learning more about the land, hunting, trapping and fishing. The recipient will show a genuine love and stewardship of the land, a student who volunteers to partake in opportunities of learning and knowledge sharing. The family of August Commanda will continue to develop the fund and criteria for student applicants and in doing so we appreciate all donations that help us to support and encourage our students in their learning and motivate them to become active caretakers of the land. Throughout his long life his love of the great outdoors was seen in every aspect, and through his name we will honour students who share his passion.
Cheques can be made out to « The August Commanda Legacy Fund » and dropped off at the Makwa Centre during visiting hours or mailed to the funeral home at anytime.
Tributes and condolences can be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
