Audrey Catherine Nash
Dingwall, Victoria County. Her loving, compassionate soul was set free on September 6th, 2021. Her sudden but peaceful passing occurred at Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Neil’s Harbour, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Hilda (Trimm) Nash, New Haven. Audrey was a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church.
Audrey graduated as a registered nurse from St. Elizabeth Hospital. She returned to Neil’s Harbour where she worked at Buchanan Memorial for 25 years. Many share stories of the beautiful, kind-hearted nurse she was. She loved to laugh, dance and listen to Newfoundland music. Her fun personality was key in making many new and lifelong, faithful friends. In later years, as her health was affected, Audrey became mostly housebound but her care and concern for others never faltered. Her quick mind and recollection of numbers and dates made using the telephone the perfect tool to stay in touch, wish others well and keep up with daily events. We will miss her advice, love and genuine interest in the « little things ».
Audrey is survived by her tireless partner Henry Fitzgerald, daughter Mary Lynn (Maynard) MacKinnon -Sugarloaf, son Kinnon MacKinnon (Tracy) -Ingonish, grandchildren: Eric (Jessica), Brandon (Makayla), Autumn; Jenacy, Lily and Sean. Great grandchildren: Loch and Poppy. She is also survived by her two sisters: Annie (late Alex) Budge, Linda (Andrew) Symes; nieces Linda and Cathy, nephews Tommy and Stanley plus many more unnamed she considered family.
A huge note of thanks to Audrey’s extended family -the homecare workers who offer a multi-faceted lifeline on a daily basis to those in need. You are truly a blessing. Also, a sincere thank you to the EMTs, doctors and nurses who gave her the best possible care. You are greatly appreciated.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday October 2nd at 2 p.m. Reverend Carolyn Sharpe officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to JM Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
