Obituary of Arlene Ruelland, New Waterford
Arlene Marie Ruelland, 49, of New Waterford passed peacefully on Monday, December 27,2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of Mary Ruelland and the late Fred Ruelland.
Arlene was a member of the former Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Ruelland; six sisters, Noel Ruelland, New Waterford, Sharon Collier, Victoria, BC, Debbie Ruelland, St. Catharines, ON, Emily MacDonald, River Denys, Sheila MacIsaac, Lower Sackville, and twin sister, Darlene Ruelland, Glace Bay.
Besides her father, Fred Ruelland, Arlene was predeceased by two sisters, Denise Ruelland and Paula Ruelland; and a brother, Fred Ruelland Jr.
Arlene had a passion for the outdoors, with one of her favorite pastimes being going to the woods with her nephew, Mitchell and her dog, Benjie. She was a wise soul, devoting her life to helping, not only her family but also her friends with sage advice, humor, and love. Arlene left this world to join her beautiful sisters and brother.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, where a private Family Memorial Service will be held with Father Peter McLeod officiating.
In lieu of a donation, we, her sisters feel that Arlene would have appreciated a random act of kindness in her memory. Be good and kind to one another, love and appreciate the little things. The days are long, but the years are short. Love to you all.
Special thanks are so richly due to Arlene’s healthcare team, Palliative Care, 4D, and ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
