The family of Anne Marie is devastated to announce her passing on March 4, 2021. After a two-year battle with cancer, Anne passed away peacefully at the Dartmouth General Hospital with her mother and daughter by her side.
Anne was the only child of William George (deceased) and Carol Anne (Purdy) Cleary. She grew up and resided in Dartmouth, where she graduated from Prince Andrew High School. She went on to attend Dalhousie University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Anne furthered her education for a year at Université Laval in Quebec, where she studied French and spent her time with a wholesome group of friends, who remained friends for life.
She was known for her strength, positivity, and warm personality. She loved spending time surrounded by new and old friends, especially her childhood best friend and Quebec travel buddy, Lisa.
Anne was very appreciative of all who helped to ease her cancer journey, including Brenda, Maddison, Marty and Lisa, Cathy, Tim and many others along the way. A special thanks to all mentioned, as well as Cameron, Sarah, Suzie, Linda, Terry and so many more who brought continuous joy to her life. Thanks also to Anne’s Swiss Chalet family of 30 years.
Anne leaves to mourn her mother, Carol, and the light of her life, her daughter, Sydney Marie Hiltz. As well, a great amount of friends and family who will forever miss her deeply.
A heartfelt thank you to her oncologist, Dr. Snow, as well as the nurses and staff who brought comfort to the end of her life at the DGH, especially Sara and Candace.
In honouring Anne’s wishes, no service will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Anne had a passion to help provide a better future for those in her situation, whether it be participating in trial treatments or supporting cancer charities. In lieu of flowers, and because of her love for animals, she has requested that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hope for Wildlife.
