MONACO, Anna
February 9, 1931-December 31, 2020
It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Monaco in her 90th year. Beloved wife of Gaetano Monaco for 68 years. Loving mother of Mary Jane (Maurice), and Joseph (Shelley). Cherished grandmother of Michael (Mona), Stephen (Danielle), Katherine (Ben), Sarah (Marc), and Natalie. Proud great grandmother of Emerson, Mila and baby Lancia due in January.
Pre-deceased by her parents Agostino and Margherita Ballone and her in-laws Giuseppe and Maria Monaco. Dear sister of Adriana Diodati (Aldo) and the late Armando Ballone (late Iole) of Italy and sister-in-law of Annunziata Cianferro (late Gaetano), and the late Crescenza Suffoletta (Giuseppe). Survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada and Italy.
Anna was born in Pescara Italy. She married Gaetano on December 7th, 1952 and immigrated to Canada the following year. Together they built a wonderful life in Canada where Anna’s hard work and dedication to her family contributed to their achievements. Anna loved her family, and her face lit up whenever she saw her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anna had a passion for cooking, and homemade Italian dishes were her specialty. Many family gatherings were held in her home and she made sure that no one left hungry. Anna’s other passion was gardening. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden in the backyard, a skill she learned from her father as a young child in Italy. She was equally meticulous with her flower garden and won several Trillium awards for her efforts.
Anna was a long-time parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church, a devoted member of the church choir and the Catholic Women’s League.
Given the current pandemic restrictions a private family funeral will take place. Notes of sympathy and condolences may be left at www.baygardens.ca. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to St. Margaret Mary Church or the Good Shepherd Centre.
