Anna Mae’s Obituary
BARNEY’S RIVER – Anna Mae O’Connor, 90, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Barney’s River, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 8, 2021, in the Villa.
Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late John James and Harriett Louisa (Cook) (Sangster) Robertson. During her early married years, she and her husband, Charlie, who was in the Royal Canadian Air Force, lived in France for three years and travelled Europe extensively. Mae was a caring homemaker and upon return home, had also been employed with former Mahar’s and Metropolitan stores. She was a member of Barney’s River Presbyterian Church, Kenzieville. Mae enjoyed playing Bingo and painting. She enjoyed the “simple things” of life; picking berries, making jams, knitting, enjoying all the things she learned in her youth. Mae possessed a positive, peaceful spirit, regardless of the circumstances. She was always happy to receive visitors and dearly loved her family. For Mae, “Life has changed; not ended!”
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Louise Pettipas, New Glasgow; grandsons, Michael (Kathryn) Willett, Halifax; Martin (Debby) Willett, Winnipeg, Mann.; Myles (Jen) Swain, Halifax; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Tyler, Ysabella and Taylor; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Copeland O’Connor; sisters, Violette Mae Gosby, Theresa Manthorne and Myrtle Sangster; brothers, Victor and Marshall Sangster; granddaughter, Melissa Mae Swain.
A private service will be held in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Kenzieville Cemetery.
