Nov 28, 1919 – Feb 11, 2021
It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to the matriarch of our family, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and great aunt. Ann was born in Noorwikerhout, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1953. She was born to parents John and Elizabeth Vander Raadt, the eldest of five children. She is predeceased by her sister Maria and her brothers Peter, Cees and John. She is also predeceased by her first husband Herman in 1956, and her second husband Jim in 2010, with whom she had a 46 year love affair, also her oldest son Joe in 2017 and her great grandson Matthew in 2019.
Ann is survived by her children Jess (Dave), Ronald, and Marilyn (Ken), and her grandchildren Kristie Anne (Terri), Ryan, Michael, Andrew, Alex, Shane, Lesley (Adam), Kendra (James), Matthew, and Bertran (Joanna). She is also survived by her great grandchildren Nixon, Vienna, Emma, Ava, Harper, Ashlynn, Elise, J’Anne, Dallan, Campbell, three step daughters and many nieces and nephews, all who loved her dearly. She also has a great grandchild arriving in April. Mom loved all of her family so much. She was so kind and generous to us all.
Our Mom lived a long and fulfilling life, always putting family first. She loved to garden when she could and had a love of fresh flowers. She always had a vase of fresh flowers on her table, without fail. Of course her favourite flower was the tulip as she never ever forgot the Country of her birth although she was proud to be a Canadian. In her retirement years Mom had a great love of cruise vacations and has cruised many, many times mostly with Dad and then with her children. She always had such wonderful stories to share. She loved her church and her church family. She missed them this past year due to Covid.
There will be a live stream service on Thursday Feb 25 at 130pm for family and friends. Due to Covid restrictions we cannot accommodate all that would like to be at Mom’s service. The link for the live stream service will be available on the All Saints Anglican Church website, www.allsaintsvernon.org. The service can be watched at any time. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to North Okanagan Hospice Society (3506 27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4) or All Saints Anglican Church (3205 27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 4W8) in Mom’s memory. We will always be grateful for the kindness shown to our Mom at the North Okanagan Hospice Society in Moms final days. We would like to thank Dr. Jean Flannigan for her many years of caring and friendship for Mom. A very special thank you to Myrna Isobe for all of the love and support she has given to Mom and our family, especially this past 6 months as Mom continued to decline.
Mom will be dearly missed by all that knew her, fly free Mom, Rest in Peace.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Ann Marian Stronach February 11th 2021..
