Obituary of Angela Stanic
Angela Stanic (neé Štravs) passed away peacefully at Sunnycrest Nursing Home, Whitby on Wednesday, February 24th, 2021 in her 95th year. Loving mother of Lidia (Stan), Irma, Rosemary (Brian), Mary (Dave) and Carla (Bill) and Nanny to Tyler (Valerie), Brandon (Rachele), Benjamin (Kathleen) and Stephen and great nanny to Malcolm. Loving sisters Cilka Kržišnik, Ančka Kržišnik and Ivana Štravs, brother Janez Štravs and sisters-in-law Romana Kinkela Čečič , Francka Štravs and Marica Štravs. She will also be greatly missed by all of her nieces and nephews here in Canada and in Slovenia. Predeceased by her husband Carlo, her son John, her parents Marjanca and Jernej Štravs, her sisters: Francka Tušek, Valentina Štravs , Mici Krmelj, and Rozinka Jenko and her brothers Franc, Jože and Alojziji.
Angela was an avid gardener, a wonderful baker and enjoyed her time in the Slovenian Club. Her friends and family enjoyed her many Slovenian specialties like potica and fancle. In her later years, she enjoyed her weekly bingo games at Sunnycrest Nursing Home.
Due to Co-vid 19 restrictions, a private family visitation, service and interment will be held. Interment will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre. Thank you to many family and friends for their support. The family would like to thank Dr. Ngoc Nguyen for her professional and compassionate care and the Sunnycrest staff who cared for Angela over the past 11 years.
