Obituary
The Fortier family are saddened to announce the passing of Andre Gerard Fortier (85) of Colinton, AB on September 25th, 2021. Andy passed away peacefully at his home in Colinton. Born in McLennan, AB, he was the son of the late Josephat and Rose Fortier.
Andy was an amazing man and lived life to the fullest. In 1967, he packed up his wife and six kids and headed to Fort McMurray to take a position as YMM Airport Manager. From there, he turned his lifetime passion into a business, Andy’s Sports and Guns, where just like the TV’s “Cheers” he knew everyone’s name. It was a place where there was always a pot of coffee on and a tall tale to be told. Andy wrapped up his working career with a job at Syncrude as a welder, where he retired in 1991 and moved to Colinton.
After retirement, Andy never stopped and could always be found at his wood pile or in his garden growing vegetables to share with family and friends. He was always busy fixing something for someone. On Thursdays, you could find Andy at the Colinton Hotel steak night sharing stories and life lessons.
He loved hunting and fishing and looked forward to the annual hunting trip to Falher with his family. He enjoyed get-togethers with his family and friends where he got to share his stories, jokes, and just enjoy the company.
You will be missed by all and never forgotten.
Rest in peace.
We love you.
Survived by his sons: Gerard (Sherry), Michael (Leigh), Dale (Tracy), Danny (Lee Ann); daughters: Elaine Williams, Lynn Collins (Steve); 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; his brother: Raymond; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend Karen.
In addition to his parents, Andy was predeceased by his brothers: Lucien, Sylva, Dennis, Victor; his sister: Lucille, Rita, Germaine, Blanche, and Noella.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Andre Andy Gerard Fortier October 16 1935 September 25 2021 (age 85)..
