Obituary
It is with deep sadness and much love that the family of Amelia Beech announce her peaceful passing on March 20, 2021 at the age of 98 years.
Amelia was born February 19, 1923 on a farm in Eldorena, AB to parents Anastasia and Harry Chorney; their seventh and last child. She was raised on the farm with her siblings; four brothers and two sisters.
To complete her high school education, Amelia went to live with her eldest brother and family in Myrnam, AB. Upon graduation she enrolled in a three-year nursing program at the Edmonton General Hospital. Successfully completing her RN in 1944, she relocated to Michel, BC to work at the hospital alongside her sister.
Amelia met Edgar Beech and on September 7, 1946 they married and settled in his family home in Natal, BC. From 1948 – 1955 she gave birth to their three children and devoted her time to being a stay-at-home mom.
Nursing was Amelia’s calling and she returned to her profession in the mid 60’s on a casual basis, and then full-time at the Sparwood General Hospital until she retired in the early 1990s.
Amelia was predeceased by Edgar in 2014 and daughter, Linsey Cottington, in 2020.
Surviving her is daughter Adrienne (Norm) Hunchuk, her son Randy (Pauline) Beech, and son-in-law David Cottington; six grandchildren: Kim (Craig) Fletcher, Brian (Tracy) Hunchuk, Andy Cottington, Joe (Amy) Cottington, Mike (Kate) Beech, Kevin (Emily) Beech, and three great grandchildren: Justin, Paris, and Fenella as well as nieces and nephews.
