Alphie’s Obituary
Alphie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the age of 89 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. He was the oldest of the family and outlived all of his younger siblings.
He leaves to grieve his wife of 64 years, Doloris; daughter, Darlene (Joey); grandchildren, Joelene (Bobby), Jean Jacques (Darcey), Lloyd (Alyssa) and Lynn (Journ); great-grandchildren, Jevin, Reid and Baby Comeau due in 2022; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Kevin, and daughter-in-law, Barbara.
At a young age, Alphie started out apple picking in the Valley, to logging, truck driving, helping build Fourth Lake Dam, which he still enjoyed talking about, hauling whales for Comeau Seafoods, scallop weigher and fish meal worker. He moved on to carpentry jobs including many houses in Clare, La Villa Acadienne and prefab homes with N. Melanson Contractors. His last employment was with Department of Transportation where he retired.
Camping was a major part of his and Doloris’ life where lots of friendships were made; many campgrounds were visited over the last 50 years. The daily routine they had for many years was disrupted by dementia in the past couple years but he still enjoyed helping at the sawmill and burning scraps at the fire pit.
As per Alphie’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of Meteghan Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Saulnierville, with immediate family only.
