Obituary of Alman Carter
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Charles Alman Carter, or “Carter” as he was affectionately known, announces his passing on April 13, 2021, one day before his 90th birthday at home with his loving wife and family by his side. Born in Codroy, NL, Carter was the son of the late John Wallace and Rita (nee Moore) Carter. Carter leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 60 years Mary Carter (nee Billard); children, Karen (Don), Tony (Laura), Terry (Stephanie), Sandra (Dean); grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Kassandra, Austin, Gabby, Alexander, Andrew, and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Tristan, Zion, Rio, and Robin along with a large circle of nieces and nephews. He also leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his siblings, Viola (Al) Seymour, Calvin (Irene) Carter, Clarissa (George) Gillis, Brothers- and sisters-in-law, Millie (Herb) Park, Betty Skinner, Julie (Hartley) Spencer, Margaret (Joe) Street, Brenda (Wilfred) Luedee, Pauline (Jim) Baggs, Johnny Billard, Clifford Coleman, Gloria Billard, and Elizabeth Carter and his close friend, Wilfred Luedee. Carter was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Gabriel and Effie Billard, brother, Harold Carter, brothers-in-law Richard Billard, Lloyd Billard, and Frederick Skinner and sister-in-law Gloria Coleman, and good friends, James Ingram and Cyril Billard. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation and thanks to Dr. Husni and Wanda for all they did for Carter. The family will be receiving family and friends on Thursday, April 15 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street. The funeral service will be on Friday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m., St. Augustines Church, Margaree, officiated by, Rev. Nathan Cutler. In keeping with Covid-19 regulations, the funeral service will be by invitation only. Interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts road. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Carter’s memory can be made to The Alzheimer Society at alzheimer.ca/nl/en/take-action/donate, to St. Augustines Church, or to the family. Carter was a gentle, unassuming man who spent his life being a ‘jack of all trades”. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed his help. His family and his loved ones were the light of his life and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
