Aliette’s Obituary
With deep heart ache we announce the passing of our mother Aliette Simonne (Savard) Duval on June 17, 2021, at the age of 90 years. She was a long-time resident of Jean-Côté and spent most of the last 18 years living in Grande Prairie. Aliette was born in a log cabin in Jean-Côté on Oct 22, 1930, the youngest of 14 children, and passed away quietly and peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.
Aliette worked hard all her life starting way back into her childhood helping her parents on the farm. During her adulthood, in addition to being the most excellent home maker, she was a care giver to other family members as they aged, a bus driver, a cook in camps and at the Girouxville restaurant, harvester operator, and her most cherished job as an Activity Aide for 8 years at the Sacred Heart Health Centre long term care facility.
She treasured time with family gatherings, Aliette enjoyed crafting, sewing, playing cards, reading about, and using essential oils. She was known for her wit and wonderful sense of humour, optimism & joie de vivre, pride and love of her children, grand children, great-grand children, as well as great-great-grand child.
Aliette is and will always be remembered and missed with deep love and respect.
She is predeceased by her husband Gaston Duval, her daughter Louisette (Duval) Bruneau, son Ronald Duval, son-in-law André Dufresne, parents Raoul and Alice (Simard) Savard, and all her siblings including, unnamed twins, Robert Savard, Maria Hetu, Gabrielle Bruneau, Paul Savard, Yvette Grenier, Anna Marie Simoneau, Mathilde Boucher, Charles Savard, David Savard, Emile Savard, et Rita Caron.
Aliette is survived by her children, sons and daughters-in-law, Paul (Louisette) Bruneau, Diane (Andre) Dufresne, Camille (Marilyn) Duval, Richard (Joanne) Duval, Sheila (Ronald) Duval, Madeleine (Greg) Griffin, Daniel (Nicole) Duval, Roland (Lyne) Duval, Carole Duval, Linda (Charles) Richard. Also left to grieve are 24 grand-children and 1 adopted, 27 great-grand-children and 5 adopted, and 1 great-great-grand child and 2 adopted, several nephews and nieces, cousins, as well as many close friends.
Funeral services for the late Aliette Duval will be held on July 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at la Paroisse Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Girouxville by Father Christian and Deacon Reg Bouchard. Viewing will be in the church from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. prior to Mass.
Those who received a Blanket from Aliette, please bring them to the funeral service.
Interment to be followed at the Jean-Côté Cemetery.
