Obituary of Alice Mary ton
With very heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our mother and grandmother Alice Mary ton (Terris), of Stellarton, on October 30, 2021 at home. Alice was born on July 27, 1936, to Helen (Kowalski) and Allan Terris. She was married to Donald Roy ton for 47 years until his passing in 2002. She is survived by her three children Donald (Carolyn), Stellarton, Dee (Tom) LeBlanc, Hopewell, and Carol (Doug) MacLeod, Thorburn; as well as her family grandchildren Trevor (Amanda) Holley, Jennifer (Jonathan) Crosby, Adam (Taylor) MacLeod, Jillian (Justin) Bean, Cheryl (Terence) Katerynych; great grandchildren Michaela (Jonathan) Bourque, Clayton, Callie, Brayden, Kathryn, Oliver; great great grandchildren Laila, Alivia, Brody, Blake; Special Sister Phyllis MacLean; family members Doris and Earl Logan, Stella MacKenzie. She is also survived by three sisters, a brother and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, a son, Claude, in infancy and a brother Wayne. Alice’s pride and joy in life was her family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was very active in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She always had her camera in hand and proudly captured every moment of her family’s lives from holidays, births and weddings, to recitals, and races and everything in between. Nan was known for her huge heart, generosity and excellent memory. Every child who ever entered her life was remembered with a handknit baby blanket, gift or card – she never left anyone out no matter how far the connection. She never forgot a birthday, every extended family member was always remembered with a card or call. She was also known for her quick wit and sassy charm. She was a tough woman, living and maintaining her home independently right up until her death. She was extremely smart, resourceful, and strong. While she didn’t venture far from home, her reach was vast – the lessons, values, and memories she spread were immense. Much of her family was lucky to get to see her almost daily – the void she leaves feels immeasurable. In accordance with Alice’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. A private family graveside service will be held. We will remember Nan for her generosity and kindness and we ask that to honour her memory you do a good deed for someone in need.
