It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alice Wilson (nee Slinger) on October 23, 2021 in her 97th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Angus Mackay Wilson and by her siblings, Stanley, Jake, Don, Edna, Elsie, George and Bob. She was a beloved mother whose kind heart and goodness are remembered with love and gratitude.
Cherished mother of Cairine Wilson (Tony Mancini), Joanna Wilson (Bob Bellfoy) and Norm Wilson (Patricia Tully) and loving grandmother of Mark and Andrew Wilson. Loved by her extended family Tanya Desnoyers and Shannon Bellfoy, and Victoria and Kaitlin Desnoyers and Nicholas and Ashlyn Beauchemin.
Alice was a World War II Veteran who joined the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service, known as Wrens, straight out of high school. She was chosen to be part of an elite group of wireless telegraphers who tracked U-boat activity in the Atlantic. She proudly served at Coverdale Station in New Brunswick. For her accomplishments, she was awarded the prestigious Bletchley Park Commemorative Medal and Badge by the British government.
Alice was strong, beautiful, caring and warm and brought dignity, wisdom and grace to all who knew her. She is deeply loved and missed.
In remembrance of Alice’s life, the family asks that donations be made to the Bruyere Foundation or to your favourite charity.
A private service has been held for the family.
